Caribbean Cruise 2017

Hi everyone! Long time no post! I'm so excited to finally get my life together and start posting more regularly. Today, I wanted to share the cruise my family and I took to the Caribbean this summer (back in July!) We had a great time, but we were so ready to get back to our normal routines.

I had plans of "vlogging" this trip, but it just didn't work out. So, I'll start from day 1 of our 8-day vacay.

New Orleans
I had high hopes from New Orleans, but the weather was terribly rainy and it actually flooded really bad. There were cars on the shoulders just drowning.

We ate at a really good restaurant called Katie's for dinner. The crab cake po-boy was amazing. How could crab cakes on fresh bread not be amazing? ;)

The hotel here was really strange...no windows, just a skylight! However, it was only one night so we weren't too concerned.

The next morning we stopped by a restaurant called Willa Jean and it was delicious. If you're ever in town, stop by here and order the monkey bread!

Day 1: On Board
Once we boarded the ship, we got settled and went to the safety meeting. After, we went to dinner in the dining room which is always so yummy (something different every night & it's always 3 courses!) I weighed myself once we got back and had gained FIVE pounds just from all of the delicious food!

Anywho, I also started (and finished) reading a book by Elin Hilderbrand called Barefoot! It was so good and you'll see it in an upcoming post I'm doing on some of my favorite reads from this year. We had a window room this cruise and it was the perfect little reading nook!

Day 2: At Sea
The water is so beautiful, but you do start to miss land after a while!

Day 3: Key West
Key West was so pretty! From the trees to all of the quaint houses lining the streets. We got to tour Ernest Hemingway's house, visited the Southernmost Point and I even spotted Lilly Pulitzer's first headquarters!

Day 4: Freeport
We didn't get off of the ship on this day. We decided instead to take advantage of the waterpark on board and the fact that there were no lines anywhere.

Day 5: Nassau
This day we woke up really early to get to the Atlantis resort and waterpark. The views are stunning, but the waterpark wasn't my forte.

Day 6 was spent at sea. At this point, we were all ready to be back in Houston lol! We missed our tex-mex!

Day 7: New Orleans
We arrived in New Orleans really early in the morning (~3am) and we were so glad to see land again!

We jumped on a plane back to Houston and finally fi-nal-ly got some good tex-mex in our tummies! ;)

Thanks so much for reading!

P.S. I plan to have posts up for y'all every Tuesday + Thursday!
