This spring semester, I was given an assignment to create a "sense of place" using photography. I loved this idea and knew the perfect place- Kemah Boardwalk!
First thing's first.
What to Eat
My favorite place here is Landry's seafood 100%...order shrimp al fresca (the old way)! However, there are so many amazing restaurants all within steps of each other. From steakhouse to Mexican food to sushi, you cannot go wrong! There's also a Starbucks and a Dippin' Dots cart to cool off in the Texas heat.
What to Do
Kemah is great for adults and children alike with its impeccable restaurants and carnival-esque rides. We love riding the train when we go! There's also a splash pad with a bar nearby...sometimes even live music! If you're looking for something more hands-on, the Aquarium offers a stingray exhibit where you can feed them. Lastly, there is a full shopping strip with a cute little coffee cafe and pizza shop!
Where to Stay
If you can't fit everything into one day, Kemah has its own hotel called Boardwalk Inn. I have never stayed here because we live nearby, but I've had friends that say it's great for a weekend getaway and even for parties (think sleepovers with your girls.) With all of the restaurants/shopping nearby, you really get a great deal by staying here.
As you can see, I somehow managed to get M to come with me so that I could finish this assignment. We even took his niece and she loved the carousel (it's a 2-story)! If you're ever by the bay, stop by Kemah Boardwalk!
